Are You a StoryTeller? Here's How to Be One
|
(Blog -- http://lesboisarts.blogspot.com)
Bert (my dog) and I try to walk everyday. He hasn't come up with one complaint towards walking. Me....well I'm not perfect. There are days those excuses flow out of my mouth. You know how it can go.... We manage to have an adventure in our walks.
Yesterday morning wasn't any different. We're minding our own business turn the corner and all is quiet. Almost to our destination; out of know where a pigeon decided to walk a long side of us for several feet before it flew away. Bert didn't know what to do. That all changed when three squirrel's head our way....Bert is all excited -- they veered off at the last minute. One for the squirrel zip for Bert.
What does this half to do with story telling? I'll get to that in a moment.
We trudge up the small hill....quiet again as we walk along the canal. I can sort out my thoughts that are running through my head. Walks help me with my sanity (another story) and creating stories.
We've come down the hill back onto the cement jungle -- sidewalk. Not my favorite part of the walk -- near the water is. The flow of the water is replaced with passing cars -- lot's of them. Have you ever noticed how people look in their vehicles? They are either happy or look miserable. There are those drivers I wonder if they're even awake -- deer in the headlight stare. Some are chatting on their cell phones or talking to the person in the vehicle with them. One woman applied her mascara while talking on the cell phone. Who's driving the vehicle? She was. Thank goodness there was no on coming traffic.
To me story tellers are what I observe during my constitutional. They are a diversified group of people like the drivers I witness. In the story handbook I found out that there are many cultures/languages of story telling, "including Sanskrit, Old German, Latin, Chinese, Greek, Latin, Icelandic and Old Slavonic." Have you read Gilgamesh? One of the oldest stories known. There is a wealth of information in the story handbook. Go to; falcon.jmu.edu/~ramseyil/storyhandbook.htm
I welcome all of you to be story tellers. This 'blog' is for anyone who wants to share their story. The door is open to discuss whatever you want. Use your imagination. Create a story or get something off of your chest. All that's needed is you....
Be in Peace.
Cindy :)
